Hey all you Tommy C fans. I hope you are having an amazing new year so far. I want to thank all of you for your support of my career. I appreciate every comment on social media, every CD and merchandise sale, and every fan email.
As you saw the other day on social media, I’ve been dropping little hints of what’s next for me. Did you see all of the posts for “Sway”, a remix of the amazing song by Bobby Rydell? It was my absolute honor to record with Bobby and “Sway” is one of my all time favorites.
But…there’s one more thing to come from the late and great Bobby Rydell and myself. This April, I’ll be releasing another single and the announcement is coming soon.
I thought I’d take some time to tell you the story of how I got to work with this legend, it’s a
good one! One day I was speaking with my manager, Joey M, and he asked me if I would like to record a song with his longtime friend, Bobby Rydell. I said absolutely! I just thought this was a conversation but lo and behold, a few weeks later Joey called me to tell me Bobby was in. We picked “Sway” immediately, and the soon-to-be released song was chosen by the flip of a coin!
Taking the classic song and changing the arrangement, we made ”Sway” into a more modern sounding song, with a tango feel that listeners can move to. I really love how upbeat the song became and the team working on “Sway” did a fantastic job.
As a kid my family always had 60’s music playing, so I had been a fan of Bobby long before this opportunity. I loved listening to the “oohs” and “ahhs” of his vocal style. When we started working together, it was clear Bobby never lost sight of who he was and where he came from. He talked about the good old days in Philadelphia with his wife, Linda, right beside him. I found it funny that Bobby was this big star and he lived such a humble, practical life with his wife, dog and cat.
For any other 26 year old, this experience might not seem to be such a big thing. But for me, I still have yet to find the words describing how grateful I am for the opportunity. To have the opportunity to sing alongside one of the great teen idols from the greatest era of music and to be able to say I released two songs is unbelievable. When I tell my friends about this, most are unaware of who Bobby is. After they google his name, they’re dumbfounded at the fact that I accomplished this. Bobby is, and forever will be, America’s teen idol.
So that’s all folks, stay tuned for the next update on my blog when I officially announce the release of the other single I recorded with Bobby. You can subscribe on my website to be notified of shows, blog posts, announcements and more.
